Media Room Makeover

From mediocre to magnificent.

Walking along the bright light hallways of this traditional barn conversion, the cinema room is totally unexpected as you open the double doors to reveal dramatic red seating against all-encompassing dark walls of this cinema room.

Unexpected drama

Originally an under-utilised music room with a simple media wall and surround sound, the client wanted more from their home - an authentic cinema experience with the wow factor.

The room felt like unlived and unrealised potential, and we started from a blank sheet to propose a radical transformation which was shortlisted for 'Best Home Cinema' at the CEDIA Awards.

We gave SONA complete freedom on the design of the room.
They not only detailed the technical side of the room but also the raised seating platform, ceiling and custom cabinetry which houses the screen and equipment, producing 3D renders for us to approve.

Transformation

We overhauled the room, with out team carrying out all of the building, cabinetry and decoration - essentially building a room within a room, creating tiered seating and illuminated step details, all focussed around an anamorphic 'super-wide' screen and 13 channel Dolby Atmos audio system.

The room has not disappointed,
it’s such a luxury to immerse ourselves in a film in such a way at home.
